Variegate: to change the appearance of or to give variety to.
Variegate Porphyria (VP): an acute type of porphyria due to a deficiency of protoporphyrinogen oxidase. Variegate porphyria has symptoms similar to those of AIP but also to those of a classic photosensitive skin disorder.

PC is funded under grant number U54DK083909 as a collaboration between NCATS and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). This website is hosted by the network’s Data Management and Coordinating Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, which is funded by NCATS and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) under grant number TR002818.
